Our solution was two cages. Gurley's main cage is in our bedroom. While the kid are in school and we are at work, thats where she stays. However, she has an alternate smaller cage in our living area along with two play stands. If we are home, she is almost always brought out into the living area with us. When in the living room, with lots going on around her, she doesn't seem to mind a smaller cage when I have to lock her up. Most of the time she is out on the play stands. I like the main cage in the bedroom, because we often stay up later than her bed time and sometimes she seems to like her own private time when things are hectic. She lets us know when she wants to be put back into the bigger cage.
It is also nice to be able to "sneak" into the house for 5 minutes and leave again immediately if I must for an appointment. If she were in the living room, she would have a cow if I didn't spend 15 to 20 minutes with her very shortly after coming home.
Anyway, it's what works for us!
