I have been breeding Ekkies for a few years and have notice a phenomonon that some others I have talked to are experiencing also. I have five pairs of SI Ekkies. All but one pair has given me beautiful babies for a while then suddenly stopped laying fertile eggs for long periods of time - the first pair gave me babies the first year and hasn't for the last two years. Pairs 2 & 3 gave me babies in the Fall and Winter of 1999 and have since laid just infertile eggs. THe 4th pair is currently sitting on its 3rd clutch of fertile eggs. Are they going to do the same thing? The 5th pair has done nothing so far. Does anyone have any insight as to why they seem to be doing this? (I tried to post this earlier but am not sure I made it, so appologies if this is an unnecessary repeat).
