GUIDELINES
Because of the large size of our list, it is necessary to observe these few
simple guidelines when writing to the list.
- DO NOT RETURN THE ORIGINAL MESSAGE WITH YOUR REPLY. Please delete the
header and the letter to which you are replying. If you wish to include a
few lines of the original message, keep it brief.
- DO NOT SEND MESSAGES OR ANNOUNCEMENTS THAT CONTAIN NO ECLECTUS
INFORMATION. This includes contest announcements, jokes, address changes,
subscription requests, virus warnings, surveys, and test messages. All
letters to the list should be "about" Eclectus parrots. We are an
information list -- not a chat list. Off topic information can be added to
the end a letter containing Eclectus information by labeling the final
paragraph of your letter "OFF TOPIC".
- PLEASE USE AN APPROPRIATE SUBJECT LINE AND SIGN YOUR LIST LETTER. The
subject should reflect the topic of your post. "Eclectus Digest" is not an
appropriate subject. Sign your letters so that all replies can be addressed
to you by name.
- DO NOT DISRUPT THE LIST. Disruptive messages should be sent privately,
if at all. We pride ourselves on our friendly list atmosphere and no
Eclectus question is considered trivial or inappropriate. We do not allow
ridicule or sarcasm toward other list members.
- SEND PERSONAL MESSAGES PRIVATELY. If you wish to send a personal message
in reply to an Eclectus message, please send it to the one person to whom
it pertains, and not to the thousand-plus list members who expect to find
Eclectus information in every letter.
