Rainbow Raja

"Raja is two years old and is just now experiencing her first molt. Her wings were clipped when I got her and they have never grown in. For the first time, she has six new wing feathers but she keeps losing her tail feathers. No one could figure out what was wrong with her. The best doctors in the area were stumped, even when they consulted with other vets around the country.  Finally, they decided that if they could get Raja's feathers to grow, everything else might fall into place. They put her on Thyrosyn, which she has been taking for almost two months.  She is supposed to take them nightly but I've only been able to get her to take them a few days a week. It does seem to be the right treatment choice because Raja seems to feel a lot better and her feathers are finally growing in. Her new and unusual feather coloring makes her look like a cross between an Eclectus and a Sun Conure but I understand that this can be caused by thyroid drugs such as Thyrosyn, and that it is temporary.  Although she is very exotic looking now, I'm hoping to have my beautiful, normal-colored Eclectus back soon." - Owner, Trinity Adams
